Specification for EcoSmart Insulating Double Honeycomb Metro Flame Retardant Insulating Shade

1. Metro flame retarded Room Darkening fabric: 

The fabric shall be a textured non-woven 100% polyester formed into hexagonal honeycomb cells. Construction shall be a double honeycomb layer of fabric. Fabric weight 40 gm/sq. meter. and gauge 0.16 mm. Light transmission 3% of visible and 0.01% UV light. R-value of 5.0 with double glazing and shading coefficient 0.35. Fabric Duo-tone with color on the inside and light gray color to the exterior.
 

The fabric to be permanently flame retarded during its manufacture to ensure it passes all of the following tests:

California ADM Code Title 19,
NFPA 701 washability, and
Dept. of Transportation Motor Vehicle Standard 302.

Post production topical flame retarding will not be accepted.

2. Metro flame retarded light filtering fabric:

The fabric shall be a textured non-woven 100% polyester formed into hexagonal honeycomb cells. Construction shall be a double honeycomb layer of fabric.  Fabric weight 40 gm/sq. meter. and gauge 0.16 mm. Light transmission11% visible and <1% UV light.  The front web sealed to minimize air flow through the shade. R-value of 4.34 with double glazing and shading coefficient 0.27. Fabric Duo-tone with color on the inside and off-white color to the exterior.

The fabric to be permanently flame retarded during its manufacture to ensure it passes all of the following tests:

California ADM Code Title 19,
NFPA 701, and
Dept. of Transportation Motor Vehicle Standard 302.

Post production topical flame retarding will not be accepted.

3. Continuous Cord Loop Heavy Duty Operating System: - recommended for all shades over 72" in width or length or where cord control is important

1. Headrail shall be aluminum 1.165" x 1.185", with baked on enamel, with a color insert strip coordinating the color of the fabric. The bottomrail shall be aluminum with baked-on enamel color coordinated to the fabric with polycarbonate end caps color coordinated to the fabric. 
2. Clutch Mechanism shall be white engineering plastic, operated by a spring-tensioned rotary clutch that moves the shade when the continuous cord loop is pulled and that holds the shade in place unless force is applied.
3. Continuous Cord Loop shall be braided polyester 0.105" in diameter.  Cord length approximately 2/3's the length of the window.
4. Lift Cord shall be .0305" white braided polyester, completely hidden by threading through the center of the shade.

4. Universal Shade Hardware - recommended for all shades under 72" in height or width

1. Headrail shall be .040" thick aluminum alloy 6063, 0.535" x 1.430", with baked on enamel or anodized finish color coordinated to the fabric.
2. Sill Rail shall be .040" thick aluminum alloy 6063, 0.535" x 1.430" with baked-on enamel or anodized finish color coordinated to the fabric.
3. End Caps and Cord Lock Cover shall be ABS plastic color coordinated to the fabric.
4. Cord Locking Mechanism shall be made from natural glass filled engineering plastic, operated by a free swinging pawl (440-A Stainless Steel and ABS plastic) to allow gravity and cord directional force to cause locking and releasing action.
5. Installation Brackets shall be 304 Stainless Steel, with holes positioned so they can be mounted to ceiling, soffit or wall.
6. Lift Cord shall be 1.2mm white braided polyester.

 5.  Top Down Bottom Up Shade Operation uses Universal Hardware - top down bottom up operation

1. Headrail, sill and middle rails shall be .040" thick aluminum alloy 6063, 0.535" x 1.430", with baked on enamel or anodized finish color coordinated to the fabric.
2. End Caps and Cord Lock Cover shall be ABS plastic color coordinated to the fabric.
3. Two Cord Locking Mechanisms which shall be made from natural glass filled engineering plastic, operated by a free swinging pawl (440-A Stainless Steel and ABS plastic) to allow gravity and cord directional force to cause locking and releasing action.  Positioned on right and left sides of shade.  Right to operate sill rail and left to operate middle rail.
4. Installation Brackets shall be 304 Stainless Steel, with holes positioned so they can be mounted to ceiling, soffit or wall.
5. Lift Cords shall be 1.2mm white braided polyester.
6. Minimum width: 12”, Minimum length:  12”
   Maximum width: 72” Maximum length: 96”

6. Side Tracks

1. Shades will be installed with two part finned side tracks mounted inside window jams.
2. Fabric shall be notched and special grooved end caps used so that the shades ride on finned side tracks (white or oak) to provide 99% room darkening and reduce drafts by 22% over shades without side tracks.

6. Care & Cleaning:

Regular dusting with a feather duster or vacuum cleaner brush will keep EcoSmart Insulating shades clean and bright for years.  Most spills or stains can be wiped off easily with a damp sponge and mild foam upholstery cleaner. The shade is to be made entirely from components that are not affected by moisture or UV degradation so that it can be entirely immersed in warm water with a mild detergent for over all cleaning. The shade can be cleaned Ultrasonically for more serious cleaning.
